11 Aug – Disney and Lucasfilm have now ended their conflict with Gina Carano, who previously accused the studios of wrongful termination and discrimination. Carano filed a lawsuit last year against the two entities, saying that she was fired from "The Mandalorian" and other titles from the Star Wars universe for voicing a personal opinion on social media. She also sought a court order that would force Lucasfilm to recast her. The firing came after Carano stated on social media that "most people today don't realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"
In her complaint, Carano said that the same treatment from the parties were not given to her co-star Pedro Pascal, who compared President Donald Trump to Hitler back in 2017. In a recent statement, a rep of Lucasfilm expressed that they look forward to working with Carano in the near future. "We have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect." Meanwhile, Carano said that the deal is the "best outcome for all parties involved" and that her desires remain in the arts. The lawsuit came after Elon Musk promised to foot the legal bill for users who claim they have been discriminated against due to their activity on his platform, X.
