"Wicked" is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, but no Best Director for Jon M Chu
27 Jan - Denis Villeneuve and Jon M Chu are two lucky filmmakers who have their actors calling out the Oscars for snubbing them the Best Director category despite their respective films being nominated in various categories.

"Dune: Part Two" star Josh Brolin recently expressed frustration that Villeneuve did not make it to the said category, writing on Instagram Story that the snub made no sense.

"Apparently, I'm going to quit acting because Denis Villeneuve didn't get nominated, and this is just how this thing works. Makes no sense to me. That's okay. It's an amazing film. I think it was even better than the first one. But the people who have gotten accolades sure deserve it and happy to be a part of it," he posted.

"Dune: Part 2" gets 5 Oscar nominations
It is noted that the film is being nominated in categories such as Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Production Design.

Meanwhile, "Wicked" actress Michelle Yeoh said that everybody in the cast were celebrating their 10 nominations but also saddened by the lack of nomination for Chu, who made it all happened.

"We must say we are also crying because Jon M. Chu, Alice Brooks - our DP - were not nominated, but the rest of us are celebrating. Best picture, costumes, hair!" she expressed in an interview with The View.

This year, the Best Director nominees are Jacques Audiard ("Emilia Perez"), Sean Baker ("Anora"), Brady Corbet ("The Brutalist"), Coralie Fargeat ("The Substance") and James Mangold ("A Complete Unknown").
