31 Jul - To bring his character to life in the horror film "Munajjim: Sekutu Iblis," actor Farid Kamil took an unconventional approach by spending 25 nights alone in an abandoned bungalow in a secluded area.

Farid, who plays the role of Ayden, undertook this intense preparation after receiving the film script to fully embrace and understand his character's psyche. "To be honest, when I was cast as Ayden, I read the script countless times," Farid explained during the gala premiere of "Munajjim: Sekutu Iblis" at TGV Suria KLCC on Monday.

He added, "As an actor, I always try to delve deep into a character's background, but as filming approached, I still couldn't fully grasp who Ayden was. So when production began, I had to ask permission to actually stay in the bungalow." The bungalow served as both his temporary home and the film's primary shooting location.

According to Farid, the experience proved both fascinating and terrifying, even without any supernatural encounters.

"Initially, sleeping was quite challenging because the bedroom I was staying in had five large beds," he recalled. "I kept moving from bed to bed because I couldn't fall asleep. It wasn't until I reached the fifth bed, just before dawn, that I finally managed to rest. Surprisingly, it wasn't mystical disturbances keeping me awake - it was the mosquitoes."

However, Farid did experience some unsettling moments. "I constantly felt like something was pushing against my back whenever I tried to sleep," he shared. "The production team would only visit to deliver breakfast and begin filming for the day."

Directed by Faizul A. Rashid, "Munajjim: Sekutu Iblis" features an ensemble cast including Uqasha Senrose, Mustaqim Bahadon, Juliana Evans, Sherie Merlis, and child actor Daniel Aqil alongside Farid.

Serving as a prequel to the film "Bisikan Dosa," the story follows a mother and son whose belief in black magic ultimately brings nightmares to their entire family.

"Munajjim: Sekutu Iblis" will begin haunting cinemas nationwide on 31 July.
