7 Jul - It was a "dino-mite" win for the Jurassic franchise, as the new Universal and Amblin's "Jurassic World Rebirth" exceeded expectations in its five-day opening number. The movie, which profited from the 4th of July holiday in the US, made USD 147.3 million at the box office, including the USDD 91.5 from the traditional three-day opening. Overseas, it opened to USD 171 million from more than 80 markets, bringing a total cume of USD 318.3 million.
This is the second-best opening number for the franchise after the original Jurassic World's USD 525.5 million, and the biggest opening globally in 2025, surpassing the previous record held by "A Minecraft Movie". The movie, helmed by Gareth Edwards of "Rogue One" fame with the script penned by original "Jurassic Park" screenwriter, David Koepp, follows an extraction team that races to an island research facility that is now inhabited by the worst of the worst creatures that were left behind. The new movie is led by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey and co-stars Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono and Audrina Miranda.
