17 Nov - It looks like there is no escaping Labubu, as it was reported that Sony Pictures has acquired the screen rights to the Chinese doll brand.

No further information has been revealed about the project, whether it will be a live-action film or an animated one, as no producer or filmmaker have been attached to it.

Created by Hong Kong artist, Kasing Lung, Labubu, a series of collectible plush toys featuring zoomorphic elves with exaggerated facial expressions, first entered the market in 2015.

However, it only became famous in recent years, after several celebrities, particularly BLACKPINK Lisa, were seen using them as accessories. It sold even more when Pop Mart decided to selling them via blind boxes, which enticed buyers to get even more just to get the one they want.
