22 Apr - "Deadpool & Wolverine" director Shawn Levy recently confirmed that his Star Wars film with Ryan Gosling will be going on as planned. Sharing the news at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, the filmmaker announced the good news alongside Gosling, saying that the new project will begin production this fall with May 2027 as its tentative release date. "There are many rumours, some true, some not," he said. "This is not a prequel, this is not a sequel. It's a new adventure."
Gosling, on the other hand, praised the new project as a "great story with great and original characters", adding that, "There is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn." The film is being written by Jonathan Tropper ("The Adam Project", "Your Friends and Neighbors") and was revealed earlier to be a standalone film outside of the Luke Skywalker canon. It will also be the second Star Wars film to be released after "The Mandalorian and Grogu" next year.
