17 Dec - It is always a celebration when a franchise succeeds, that is until it doesn't anymore.

The same treatment seems to be facing "Soulm8te," the spinoff of the "M3GAN" universe, as it was reported that Universal has now pulled it from its release calendar.

It was reported that the movie, which was originally slated for 8 January 2026 release, is now expected to be shopped to other studios instead.

The decision came following the failure of "M3GAN 2.0" at the box office, which made only USD 39.1 million from its USD 25 million budget. This is in comparison to the first movie, which made USD 181.8 million back in 2023.

In a previous interview, Jason Blum of Blumhouse stated, "We all thought Megan was like Superman. We could do anything to her. We could change genres. We could put her in the summer. We could make her look different. We could turn her from a bad guy into a good guy. And we classically over-thought how powerful people's engagement was with her."

Not much has been revealed about "Soulm8te," though its trailer, which saw Lily Sullivan as an AI-powered companion for a grieving man, was released at CinemaCon back in April.
