4 Dec - Salvador Plasencia, the doctor who provided Matthew Perry with ketamine prior to his death, has now been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.

Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett dismissed the defense's idea that Plasencia intended to treat Perry's depression initially, saying that the doctor was exploiting the late actor's addiction for profit.

This is due to the fact that Plasencia had made USD 55,000 from Perry.

The doctor, who was sentenced in a Los Angeles court, apologised to the Perry family for what he had done, saying that he had failed the late actor and his family.

"I should have protected him," he added.

Back in July, Dr Plasencia pleaded guilty to four counts of ketamine distribution, although the fatal dose was not provided by him.

Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles in October 2023. He was pronounced dead the same day. He was 54 years old.
