Iconic 80s series "Miami Vice" gets Hollywood treatment

19 Sep - Universal Pictures recently confirmed that a "Miami Vice" film is now in the works with Joseph Kosinski in the director's seat.

Announcing the news on 17 September, the studio stated that casting for the film is currently underway for the movie, which will begin filming next year.

Kosinski, who has had a great couple of years with movies like "F1" and "Top Gun: Maverick" will be helming the project penned by Dan Gilroy and Eric Singer, based on characters created by show creator, Anthony Yerkovich.

The original series, starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as two undercover Miami police officers Sonny Crockett and Rico Tubbs. It ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984 to 1989.
