Mega project "Thalaivar 173" deserves wholehearted commitment

27 Nov - Amid widespread speculation surrounding Sundar C's departure from the highly anticipated mega project "Thalaivar 173," filmmaker Ramesh Khanna has stepped forward to set the record straight, firmly denying rumours of any disagreement between the director and superstar Rajinikanth.

Speaking to the media, Ramesh explained that the departure was purely a matter of scheduling conflicts rather than creative differences. According to him, Sundar C had already committed to two film projects before the Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan collaboration was officially announced - a film with actor Vishal and the sequel "Mookuthi Amman 2."

"People would say he abandoned other commitments because he got a bigger film. That is why he had to step aside," Ramesh clarified, addressing critics who questioned the director's professional integrity.

The filmmaker emphasised that "Thalaivar 173," being a massive production reuniting two of Tamil cinema's biggest icons, would demand the director's undivided attention and extensive time commitment. However, Sundar C was unable to adjust his schedule as the production team wanted to commence shooting within three months.

"A project of this scale requires full dedication, and unfortunately, the timelines didn't align with his existing commitments," Ramesh added.

Taking a stance against the rumour mill, Ramesh expressed his frustration with unfounded speculation. "People say anything without checking facts," he said, urging the public and media to verify information before drawing conclusions about conflicts between the respected filmmaker and the legendary star.

Sundar C had previously announced his exit from the project citing "unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances," while expressing deep respect for both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. The project, being produced under Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal banner, is currently in the process of finalizing a new director and script.
