"Sore: Istri Dari Masa Depan" to represent Indonesia at the Oscars next year

"Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan" will be released in Malaysia on 25 September

11 Sep - Following the success of attracting over 3 million moviegoers in Indonesian cinemas, the fantasy romantic drama film "Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan" will continue its journey as Indonesia's official submission to the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) in the Best International Feature Film category.

The Indonesian Oscar Selection Committee, formed annually by the PPFI (Persatuan Perusahaan Film Indonesia) and validated by the Academy Awards, selected the movie during a meeting on Monday, 8 September.

"We feel extremely grateful that 'Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan' was chosen and trusted to represent Indonesian cinema at the Oscars. We hope to receive full support from all parties to smooth the journey ahead. May this be a new chapter for our film after receiving such an enthusiastic response in Indonesia," said producer Suryana Paramita.

"Thank you to the Indonesian Oscar Selection Committee for choosing 'Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan' to represent Indonesia at the 2026 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. This is a great honour and a huge vote of confidence in our work," added writer-director Yandy Laurens.

"Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan", a co-production between Indonesia and Croatia, was written and directed by Yandy Laurens, produced by Suryana Paramita, and stars Sheila Dara, Dion Wiyoko, Goran Bogdan, Lara Nekic, Livio Badurina, Maya Hasan, and Mathias Muchus.

After its box office success in Indonesia, the film is scheduled to be released in Malaysian cinemas starting 25 September.
