Taylor Swift subpoenaed in Baldoni-Lively "It Ends with Us" case

Taylor Swift's spokesperson calls the move a publicity stunt

13 May - Will Taylor Swift be the antihero in the fight between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively?

The singer-songwriter and (formerly?) best friends of the "It Ends with Us" actress has now been subpoenaed by Baldoni's legal team in the legal battle between the two parties, following previous revelations shared by Baldoni's team via a series of text messages between the filmmaker and the actress.

In their previous response to Lively's sexual harassment allegations towards Baldoni, the director's lawyers revealed that Baldoni was invited to Lively's home in 2023 to discuss alterations to a rooftop scene in the said adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel, and was surprised to see Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds and good friend Taylor there.

In one of her texts, Lively refers to Reynolds and Swift as her "dragons", saying, "If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you'll appreciate that I'm Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for."

Baldoni later praised Lively for the script changes and added that he would have felt that way even without "Ryan and Taylor", meaning the two stars' influence.

In a response to the subpoena, Swift's spokesperson said that the subpoena was just a bid to draw public interest and that the singer had never been involved except allowing the production to use her song, "My Tears Ricochet".

"Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends with Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history," the spokesperson added.
