Taylor Swift's album event dethrones Leonardo DiCaprio's film at box office

7 Oct - Leonardo DiCaprio finds his movie, "One Battle After Another" falling to the second spot at the US box office, with the person stepping on his throne being Taylor Swift.

The Paul Thomas Anderson movie crossed the USD 100 million mark globally in its second week, with USD 42 million of its box office takings coming from the US, and its foreign tally being USD 58.9 million.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's special three-day "Life of a Showgirl" album release event recently had a great response with USD 33 million in the US, and USD 13 million internationally, bringing a total haul of USD 46 million and taking it to the top spot this week.

The 89-minute event was held in time for the release of Taylor's new album, and was a mix of music videos, behind-the-scenes footage and a series of lyric videos for tracks on her new album.

On the other hand, in third place was Dwayne Johnson award-bait movie, "The Smashing Machine", which made USD 6 million, which was below projections of USD 8 million to USD 15 million.

Although it marks the lowest number in Johnson's career, the actor has been enjoying the praises the movie and his performance had since its festival runs.
