10 Nov - Forty years after the first "Gremlins" film was released, it was revealed that Warner Bros. is set to revive the franchise.

The news was announced by chief David Zaslav on 5 November, stating that Steven Spielberg will also be involved in the project as executive producer through his company, Amblin Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Christopher Columbus, who penned the original film, will also return to produce and direct the script from "Final Destinations: Bloodlines" duo, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.

The 1984 "Gremlins," directed by Joe Dante, revolves around a cute creature called a Mogwai that came with several caretaking rules. However, after several of the rules were broken, the Mogwai multiplies destructive uglier versions of itself. The sequel, released in 1990, was not beloved as much.

The new movie is scheduled for a November 2027 release.
