"Weapons" is still number one at the box office


"Weapons" scaring its competitors away
19 Aug - 2025 continues to be the year of Warner Bros., as its horror-mystery film, "Weapons" remained at the top of the US box office charts in its second weekend.

The film, helmed by Zach Cregger of "Barbarian" fame, has amassed USD 18.4 million in the US alone, and added another USD 59 million overseas, bringing a total of USD 148.8 million globally.

It is already a win for the studio, seeing that the movie cost only USD 38 million to make.

"A Minecraft Movie" is still WB's biggest film this year
The film joins the WB ranks that include "A Minecraft Movie" (USD 955.1m), "Sinners" (USD 365.9m), "Final Destination Bloodlines" (UD 285.3m), and "Superman" (USD 594.5m).

Meanwhile, the second place still belongs to Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' "Freakier Friday", which has now made USD 86.3 million (from a budget of USD 45 million).
