16 Apr - Aedy Ashraff has high hopes for his new movie, "Tarung: Unforgiven," which is being produced under his own banner, Alpha47.

The actor-turned-producer, who spoke about the movie, said that he would be happy if it can make RM 50 million at the box office through the support of fans and cinema lovers.

"This movie is close to my heart, because as a producer, I want to relay what I feel. But this is not just my movie. It's a collaboration between many parties," he said of the movie, which had a budget of RM 3 million.

However, Aedy, real name Mohammad Addy Ashraf Rosmadi, said that making a movie is not just about making profits, and that his objective in making "Tarung: Unforgiven" is to introduce stories that cinemagoers can relate to.

"I am putting all my hopes up on the release, which is on 7 May. I hope that audiences will give this movie a chance," he added.

Asked about the possibility that the story would be compared to movies of the same genre, namely "Kahar: Kapla High Council," Aedy said that his movie is presented on a larger scale, thus providing a different experience for the audience.

"Compared to 'Kahar: Kapla High Council,' the storytelling world is now expanded. While previously the setting was more focused on schools, this time it includes various locations such as neighbourhoods, fighting arenas, and the streets," he added.

Directed by Razaisyam Rashid, the movie tells the story of a former silat champion who is haunted by his past mistakes. It co-stars Mierul Aiman, Zul Ariffin, Bront Palarae, Amir Ahnaf, Azira Shafinaz, and Sharifah Sakinah.
