9 Sep - Anil Kapoor is celebrating the 25th year of his political movie, "Nayak" with a post in tribute to his character Shivaji Rao.

The actor recently took to X to express his love for the character and the film, writing, "What drew me to Shivaji Rao was never just the journey from a common man to the Chief Minister. It was what he chose to do once he got there, to use the power he had to make a difference to the people.

"To portray a role with that kind of purpose was a privilege and perhaps that is why Nayak continues to find its way back to people even after 25 years. The love for your country, and the desire to do better for its people will never be irrelevant, and I will always be proud to have been a part of such a story," he expressed.

"Nayak" is the Bollywood adaptation of the Tamil political drama, "Mudhalvan," starring Arjun and Manisha Koirala. The film was also helmed by the original director S. Shankar in his Hindi debut.

Though the original was a hit when it was released in 1999, the 2001 Bollywood version did not do as well, though it found new cult followings when it began airing on television.
