Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passes away at 92
13 Apr - Not long after grandchild Zanai announced her hospitalisation, it was revealed that renowned Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away.

The singer, who was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on 11 April due to "extreme exhaustion and chest infection" was revealed to have died on 12 April, as son Anand Bhosle expressed, "My mother passed away today (Sunday). Her last rites will be held tomorrow at Shivaji Park in Mumbai."

Born in 1933, Asha, along with her late sister Lata Mangheshkar, are among some of the most renowned Indian playback singers since the 1940s.

She had recorded more than 12,000 songs in multiple Indian languages. Her success continues even in the 90s and 2000s, with Asha recording hit songs for movies like "Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya," "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai," "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha" and "Dil To Pagal Hai".

Asha even received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and earning two Grammy nominations.

She was 92.
