"Chelot" earns a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records

15 Jun - Following the box office successes of "PASKAL: The Movie" and "MALBATT: Misi Bakara", acclaimed director Adrian Teh returns with his latest action spectacle, "Chelot", and it's already making history.

"Chelot" secures a prestigious spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for achieving the Longest Single-Take Action Sequence in a Movie, a rare and technically demanding feat in the local film industry.

The record-breaking sequence was executed using a single camera, spanning an impressive 1.9 kilometres and unfolding continuously over 5 minutes and 19 seconds, showcasing a level of precision, coordination, and ambition seldom seen in Malaysian filmmaking. The production brought together a 300-member crew, requiring 150 days of preparation and 60 hours of rehearsal, with 50 prop cars used throughout the filming process.

The single take took months of planning before it was shot

In a statement, Adrian said, "The planning and preparation for the unedited scene took months because it required very careful execution on the day of filming. This achievement is not an individual success, but the result of the collective efforts of the entire production team, with the unwavering support of the Royal Malaysian Police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall."

Adrian revealed that he took a break from directing after "MALBATT: Misi Bakara" in 2022 to explore different genres and storytelling, both as a director and producer.

"This return is not just about returning to the same genre, but I want to return with something truly fresh, something that has never been seen in Malaysian cinema," he said.

As intrigue continues to build, one question lingers-what exactly is "Chelot"? Audiences won't have to wait long for answers, as everything will be revealed this August in cinemas nationwide.

The upcoming film stars Beto Kusyairy and Shukri Yahya, and is produced by ACT 2 Pictures, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Astro Shaw, SunStrong Entertainment and Marvelous Culture & Film.
