19 Jan - The fastest Mouse in all Mexico is speeding towards the big screen as it was revealed that Warner Bros has found a director to helm the project.

It was recently reported that Mexican writer and animator Jorge R. Gutierrez has been hired to direct the animated feature, which will revolve around the character of Speedy Gonzales.

Gutierres himself shared the good news on social media and captioned it with Speedy's catchphrase, "Ándale, ándale! Arriba, arriba!"

Back in December, the filmmaker, who is known for films like "The Book of Life" and "Guardians of Oz," hinted about the project by sharing a photo of him holding a figurine and wearing a shirt with Speedy's image on it, writing, "Guess what movie I might be developing at Warner Brothers Pictures Animation..."

Speedy Gonzales made its debut in the 1950s as part of Looney Tunes and has continued to air on television until now. The character was first voiced by famed voice actor Mel Blanc (Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck among others) until 1989. Raul Ceballos is currently the voice of Speedy.
