30 Jun – Despite its best attempt, DC Studios' "Supergirl" did not manage to dethrone "Toy Story 5" from top of the box office chart in its first three days of release. The film, which is the second film in James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe following "Superman," made USD 38 million in the US, and USD 68 million globally. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, with Jason Momoa returning to the DC universe as Lobo. The movie was made with a budget of USD 170 million.
Meanwhile, "Toy Story 5" continues to make bank, despite dropping 56 percent after a strong opening. It has now made USD 585 million globally. DC's next release will be the body-horror movie "Clayface," starring Tom Rhys Harries.
