4 Feb – Always craved a nice cup of coffee or tea to sip on while watching a movie at the cinemas? Or some bubble tea or smoothie based drinks perhaps? Moviegoers will be glad to know that Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has just recently brought in a new beverage vendor in the form of La Kaffa Coffee for its patrons at GSC 1Utama. Offering a selection of fine Italian-style coffee and freshly brewed tea based drinks for which the Taiwanese brand La Kaffa International Co Ltd is famous for, the partnership between the local franchise owner of La Kaffa Coffee, Drinklink Sdn Bhd and GSC aims to offer moviegoers a wider selection of beverages apart from the soft drinks which are currently available at the concession counter.
Handled by the staff of GSC Glitters Café who are especially trained by the management of Drinklink for the beverage brewing processes, the choices of freshly-made La Kaffa Coffee drinks are indeed distinctive. "One of our unique drinks is the Sea Salt Coffee which has a bittersweet taste. It has a slight drizzle of sea salt on its foam, while the base consists of freshly brewed black coffee," says Mr. Edward Chua the marketing director for Drinklink, naming one of the drinks available in the menu. Apart from that, there is also the Sea Salt Rose, Earl Grey Bubble Tea and the Brown Sugar Coffee for which the latter has a discernible localised flavour with a twist. For children and those who don't consume coffee and tea, the Hot Chocolate drink proves to be a popular choice.
As for future developments the partnership is also expected to expand to more GSC locations within the next two years with a hint of possibility that GSC Pavilion will be next in line. Founded in Taiwan in 2004 by entrepreneur Henry Wang, the La Kaffa International Co Ltd brand also owns Chatime and ZenQ Desserts which are handled by different local franchisees in Malaysia. Apart from La Kaffa Coffee, GSC is also in partnership with Famous Amos cookies which is available at GSC 1Utama and several other GSC locations. GSC had previously also partnered with hot dog retailer 1901, until GSC had expanded their concession counter to include more hot snacks which includes their own brand of hot dogs.
