Is that a cameo or are you just happy to see Loki?

What's a Marvel movie nowadays without a cameo or two? Ever since Marvel Studios kicked off their Marvel Cinematic Universe with "Iron Man", Marvel characters, both known and unknown, have been hinted at and/or given split second appearances in the 'Phase 1' movies that would have been noticed by the most arduous comic book fans to show off Marvel's grand plans for cinema domination.

For Marvel's 'Phase 2', we decided to ask our seasoned readers whom would they like to see making a brief but cool appearance in "Thor: The Dark World". Here are the results, as we count down the top 10 Marvel characters they wish to see in "Thor: The Dark World" (though we're already looking out for that Stan Lee cameo, if nothing else).

10. Quicksilver / Magneto

Barely racing to finish on the 10th spot is a tie between superfast mutant Quicksilver and his magnetic father Magneto from the X-Men series. Most fans would prefer to see the twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch on screen instead, but we certainly don't mind seeing the father-son duo having a small role to play while Thor is swinging his hammer against some Dark Elves.

Fans shouldn't be too drawn towards having much hope in seeing Magneto because he is off in his own adventures in the upcoming "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" and a crossover between "The Avengers" and "X-Men" universe isn't quite there yet. However, there could be a small chance of seeing Quicksilver, who is planned to have a major role in the next Avengers movie "Avengers: Age Of Ultron", so keep your eyes peeled for a white-haired Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was last reported to be in talks for the role.

9. Nick Fury

Standing in our 9th spot is S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, who already had plenty of screen time in the 'Phase 1' movies until its culmination with "The Avengers". While S.H.I.E.L.D did have a major part in "Thor" when he is cast down to Earth for his arrogance, they are being kept busy with their own TV show right now. As for the captain with an eye-patch, well, I have bad news for you. It has been confirmed that Fury has been taking an absence of leave since "Iron Man 3" and would continue to do so for "Thor: The Dark World". But don't despair, Fury is reportedly coming back on duty for the next member of the Avengers in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

8. Daredevil

We thought that there would be a lot of hate for Daredevil but apparently there is plenty of respect for the Man Without Fear from our readers for him to latch onto our 8th spot. Although fans might still have nightmares about his last screen appearance (which has been used as the case for why the future of the next Batman movie is going to be grim), but we are more than willing to give the blind superhero another shot, now that the rights have recently reverted back to Marvel.

It also most likely means that we won't be seeing a quick appearance of him in "Thor: The Dark World" or until the end of 'Phase 3' since Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently said that they are still trying to figure out what to do with the Daredevil property.

7. Black Widow

Weaving her web at our 7th spot is Black Widow from our Scarlett Johansson fans. She has the most chance than any member of S.H.I.E.L.D to be in "Thor: The Dark World", and we think that if she does make it there, Marvel is planning something more sinister.

Director Joss Whedon has already hinted that Black Widow would be appearing in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (along with the aforementioned Nick Fury) and will have a narrative thread that would begin there that would have its day in "Avengers: Age Of Ultron". So clearly the Black Widow character is being planned to be someone pivotal in future Marvel movies, and if there's a good place to hint at what's to come, it would be in "Thor: The Dark World".

6. Hawkeye

Firing into the 6th spot is Hawkeye, which makes us suspect that are there more Jeremy Renner fans than Scarlett Johansson among our readers. This part-time villain in "Avengers" is as likely to appear in "Thor: The Dark World" as Black Widow is, and we've already stated the small reasons why that could be the case.

As a character on his own, well, Hawkeye might have reason to appear if Jeremy Renner gets his wish for the studio to develop his character more. Being a minor character in the Marvel universe has its downsides since it could mean not having a solo franchise, so a longer cameos will just have to compensate.

5. Fantastic Four

Just a spot shy from being fantastic, the Fantastic Four lands on our fifth spot. It was probably the end for the screen life of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch after the dismally disappointing "Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer", but if these votes are any indication, is that we would certainly like to see these four radiated superheroes team up with Thor against the invaders of Svartalfheim.

The "Fantastic Four" rights are still with Fox, which means it would be harder for Marvel to coordinate their appearance in here or any other of its future movies, but fans should know by now that a reboot is being planned for the Fantastic Four. Even though casting hasn't even been confirmed at this point which makes an appearance even more unlikely, but you can certainly expect there to be some crazy crossovers planned for these characters in the future.

4. Wolverine

Everyone's favourite mean mutant comes as no surprise after his stunning solo outing in "The Wolverine" to be on our 4th spot. While the other Marvel characters that have appeared on this list thus far are the ones we can see them collaborating with Thor in some way to save Earth, the only appearance of the Wolverine with Thor we want to see is them facing off each other, as comic book fans would understand.

On the other hand, the Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men's rights are still in the hands of Fox and they are still busy trying to retool the franchise with its time-traveling crossover in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past", if that mid-credit scene at the end of "The Wolverine" hadn't already told you where the Wolverine is off to next.

3. Spider-Man

Swinging into third place is the Amazing Spider-Man. Out of all the Marvel properties that are not being held by Marvel Studios at the moment, Spider-Man seems the most unlikely to even consider for a crossover since Sony is heavily invested in developing the rebooted franchise with the entirety of the Spider-Man universe as its own self-contained cinematic franchise.

However, if fans are disappointed that they won't be able to see Spider-Man in their Thor movie, it would be even more awesome if the studios are willing to let Thor make a cameo appearance in a Spider-Man movie, as he occasionally does in the Spider-Man animated series.

2. Captain America / Hulk

At second place we have our 2nd tie in this list and we find it very suiting that it should be taken up by Avengers teammates, Captain America and the Hulk.

While it does make sense for Marvel to let Captain America make a small appearance in "The Dark World" as a way to build up some momentum and continuity for his next movie "Captain America: The Winter Solider" next year, we think that could be done in a mid-credits scene at the end of "The Dark World" rather than being involved in the actual plot.

The Hulk, on the other hand, has been deprived from a solo outing for far too long as agreed by his fans, which could only be happening possibly in 'Phase 3'. In the meantime, it would be nice if Thor and the Hulk could continue their little showdown in "Avengers". So a cameo appearance by an angry Eric Banner should be able to sooth the anger of fans.

1. Iron Man

Staying comfortable in his couch of popularity is Iron Man as our readers' top choice for the Marvel character that they wish to see appear in "Thor: The Dark World". It looks like our readers just can't get enough of the snarky Tony Stark even after he had concluded his personal arc in "Iron Man 3" against the Mandarin and the EXTREMIS army.

Marvel looks like they are ready to retire the man in his suit, considering the ending in "Iron Man 3", so we probably won't be seeing a post-op Tony Stark returning in a new armour so soon until "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Still, while Tony Stark probably hasn't fully recovered from his last outing to be fighting off alien invaders (again) before his next anxiety attack, it would still be cool if we could get a glimpse of what he is building next without his arc reactor chest piece, if Thor bothers to drop by at his lab.
