Hollywood couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were the first celebrities to disclose that they have contracted the dreaded virus. Last week, both of them posted on their respective Instagram accounts that they were grateful of the people who have been taking good care of them. Hanks had been filming in Australia when the two of them started feeling tried with slight fevers and were later tested positive for COVID-19. Both were recently released from the hospital a few days ago and currently remain in isolation in their rented home in Australia. Judging by their social media updates, this husband and wife team is still in a jovial mood.
"Stay home people and be pragmatic" is Idris Elba's advice to his fans. A couple of days back, the 47-year-old tweeted that he tested positive for COVID-19 but assured everyone that he has been in isolation since finding out about his possible exposure to the virus. He reminded everyone not to panic and promised that he would keep everyone updated on how he was doing. He made good on that promise and has been actively posting on Twitter, even doing live-tweet so he could interact with his followers. The English actor also urged people to stop spreading conspiracy theories about black people not being able to get sick from COVID-19. "Stop sending out these stupid WhatsApp messages about black people not getting it. That's ridiculous. You're making us all look stupid. Just know you have to be as vigilant as every other race. This disease does not discriminate."
Former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko a few days ago shared on social media that she was "locked up at home" after being tested positive for COVID-19. "I've actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously!" The Ukrainian-born French actress-model wrote in English and Russian. She posted an update a couple of days later, saying that her fever was gone and she was feeling better. Though judging by the surgical mask she was wearing in the photo, the 40-year-old was still keeping up with extra precautions to avoid infecting others.
Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju, best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane in HBO's "Game of Thrones", posted on his Instagram a couple days ago revealing that he has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently self-isolating at home with his family. "We are in good health - I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading," he posted. The 41-year-old also encouraged his fans to visit their respective countries' Disease Control website and follow the regulations for staying safe.
Actress Rachel Matthews posted an Instagram Story updating fans that she has contracted the virus and has been in quarantine since last week. "Unsure of what the next step is (been getting mixed info so will keep you posted) but obviously will remain in quarantine until told to do otherwise," she posted. She also said that people could reach out to her online and ask her questions, as she would love to help in any way she can. The 26-year-old made her big screen debut in her uncle Christopher Landon's "Happy Death Day" and later reprised her role as Danielle in the sequel, "Happy Death Day 2U". She most recently lent her voice to Honeymaren in "Frozen 2".
Daniel Dae Kim, American actor of Korean descent, is the latest to be diagnosed for COVID-19. The 51-year-old posted on his Instagram, "Hi everyone- yesterday I was diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Looks like I'll be ok, but I wanted share my journey with you in the hopes that you find it informative or helpful. Hope you all stay safe, calm, and above all, healthy." The "Hellboy" actor also shared a video, saying that his family tested negative and he is feeling better. He also spoke out against the racist sentiments that has risen since the outbreak started, especially in the Us, with many still calling it the Chinese virus (including POTUS Trump himself) and actively showing bigotry towards Asian-Americans and foreigners in general.
