eWayang aims to add more local titles to its offerings.
Ever since the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the film industry across the globe has been badly affected, including in Malaysia where cinemas not only have to face repeated temporary closures but also abide by the strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Due to this, as well as cinemagoers' reluctance to step into cinemas during the pandemic, many film producers – be it local or international – have decided to postpone their movies' releases to next year.
Cinephiles, wary of visiting cinemas, have turned to video streaming platforms to catch up on movies and their favourite series. As the popularity of streaming platforms grows, film producers are not missing out on the chance to ride along.
A new streaming platform was recently launched, called eWayang, which allows viewers to watch various local films anytime, anywhere.
What's more interesting, viewers not only get to watch movies, they can also give to charity as RM1 from every ticket purchase worth RM15 will be donated to the country's COVID-19 fund.
Without further ado, let's take a look at the list of movies that are available now on eWayang, as well as the upcoming ones.
To those who missed out on watching "Nota", as it was only screened for a short period in cinemas due to lack of reception, here's your chance to watch Maya Karin and Hans Isaac starring as a pair of husband and wife. This crime thriller by Japanese director Yasu Tanaka revolves around the couple who is trying to fix their 10-year relationship, but something horrifying befalls them instead.
After sparking controversy with his first movie, Khir Rahman returns with his second work, a horror movie called "Bangunan". Apart from directing, Khir also stars in the movie along with Sein and Aqasha. In the movie, the three main characters are trying to film the supernatural as well as tell the tale of the people who mysteriously disappear from the building.
"Kisah Paling Gengster" (2013)
After the success of "Adnan Sempit", Shahiezy Sam appeared next in a serious action film, "Kisah Paling Gengster" directed by Brando Lee.
