Action movies that inspire "Jailbreak"

Prisons are supposed to be the place where authority holds the reins of power, but what happens when power changes hand? In "Jailbreak", while escorting Playboy, the legendary "leader" of the Butterfly Gang, to a high security prison, an elite police squad and a French liaison officer are placed in a tight spot when all hell breaks loose with the inmates out for Playboy's head. Now, the team must fight for their way out while making sure that Playboy stays alive until order is once again instilled in the facility. Before waiting for "Jailbreak" to open in cinemas this 2 November, take a look at these action movies which inspired the upcoming must-watch action movie.

The Raid: Redemption

"The Raid: Redemption" is a must for this gallery as we can see how the action and minimal but very claustrophobic setting inspire "Jailbreak". The film follows special tactics officer Rama, who joins the heavily-armed elite police squad led by Lieutenant Wahyu in a raid on an apartment block in Jakarta's slum. Intending to eliminate crime lord Tama Riyadi, the team's stealth movement is soon exposed after a young tenant informs Tama of their arrival. Not wanting to go down easily, Tama then places a bounty on the polices' heads and with decreasing supply of ammunitions, the team must fight their way up to put an end on Tama's evil doings.

Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior

"Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior", like "Jailbreak", is a representative action film for its country; "Jailbreak" takes the cue of using its country's very own home-grown martial art, Bokator, following "Ong Bak's" success of incorporating Thailand's Muay Thai into its action scenes. Following the theft of a Buddha statue's head in his village, Ting, who is skilled in Muay Thai, volunteers to go to Bangkok to recover it. He meets up with his cousin Humlae and his friend Muay Lek, who are always up to no good and hesitant to help Ting in finding the Buddha's head. It is only after Ting manages to rescue them that Humlae and Muay Lek finally lend their help.

Dredd

"Dredd" is a movie featuring authority figures trying to escape from the evil set-up of the criminals, similar to "Jailbreak". In a futuristic wasteland known as the Cursed Earth lies Mega-City One, a violent metropolis with only Judges acting as the force for order. After learning of a drug den in a 200-storey tower block Peace Trees, Judge Dredd and new trainee Cassandra Anderson go on to raid the block. When drug lord Madeline Madrigal learns of it, she then seals the building with Dredd and Anderson in it along with dozens of armed thugs. With no way of leaving and requesting help, Dredd and Anderson have to fight their way to the top and stop the spread of Madrigal's evil.
