Kung Fu Panda-style!

6 Jun – This being the last school holidays weekend, you can bet the cinemas will be packed to the rafters with families wanting to squeeze in one last outing together before the kids go back to school. This is good news for Po the panda and his band of merry, er, animals, as family-friendly "Kung Fu Panda" looks set to kick some box office butt this weekend!

DreamWorks Animation Studios' latest release, "KFP" is also available in Cantonese, which screens at the same time as the English version in Malaysia although not as widely with 10 locations in total, and features the voices of Hong Kong superstars Eason Chan and father-son team of Jackie and Jaycee Chan.

Leading up to the film's release, Po the Panda was seen making appearances at shopping malls in the Klang Valley including Mid Valley Megamall when he performed onstage with his troupe of pint-sized Kung Fu B-Boys in tow. Po will also be making his way to Cathay Cineplexes Cineleisure Damansara from 13-15 June, so make sure you're there with your cameras at the ready to catch him!

The only other wide release this weekend include 80's horror throwback "Prom Night" which received a mere two-star rating from Cinema Online reviewer Cammy Zulkifli despite being No.1 at the U.S. box office not too long ago. If you want to avoid the screaming kids and noisy teens at the cinemas this weekend, period drama "Amazing Grace" might just be what you're looking for. Based on the true account of anti-slavery advocator William Wilberforce (played by Ioan Gruffudd), "Grace" will only be screening at GSC International Screens at 1Utama, Mid Valley and Pavilion KL.

That being said, it looks like cute CGI animals will triumph over screaming blonde bimbos this weekend – but will the current reigning box office champion Indiana Jones be able to keep them at bay? Stay tuned to find out!
