31 Dec – A random poll of more than 100 people who turned up to watch "Four Christmases" and "Outlander" last night at GSC 1 Utama and GSC Mid Valley indicated that cinema patrons are still largely unaware of the reported RM 20 per Hollywood movie ticket proposal that was in the news recently – but those who do reacted angrily at the suggestion. More than two thirds of the respondents said they had no idea about the move to slap on a RM 20 price tag on Hollywood movie tickets next year in a proposal to protect the local film industry by the Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM). Many were very visibly displeased with the idea of paying RM 20 to watch a Hollywood movie, calling it "stupid" and "too expensive", others were willing to consider the option if it were a blockbuster like "Transformers". However, one thing remained obvious – none said that they would turn to local movies, preferring instead to download Hollywood movies illegally off the Internet or buy pirated discs that are readily available.
