27 Feb – One would not expect a movie bearing the title "Sex Drive" to play in Malaysian cinemas - but the 18PL-rated comedy is indeed now showing nationwide. Earlier the movie had run into trouble with the censors for its 'suggestive' promo posters.
While the movie title is both literal and proverbial, it was actually the comedy elements in the film that appealed to audiences. One such attraction in this tale of three friends on a road trip to satiate their libidos is Seth Green, who plays a beardy Amish character who just happens to be great at fixing cars. The movie also features some real life cultural peculiarities of the Amish, which local audiences found very interesting, according to general opinion among those who showed up at 9.30pm on 25 February 2009 at Cathay Cineleisure Damansara for a special preview of the film. After the preview, we put the audience to the laugh-o-meter test and asked them "What they thought of the Amish character".
