Movie Carnival big finale!

Let's get ready to march!

9 Jun – Movie Carnival 2009 has ended! The 10-day event in Sunway Pyramid wrapped up with a big bang - the Heroes and Villains March, a first at the fourth Movie Carnival, bringing in one of the largest movie characters parade in Malaysia. The march in conjunction with STAR MOVIES Fan Fest 2009, attracted many curious onlookers as participants gathered at 3.30pm in the Blue Atrium, where there were plenty of photo opportunities for the excited crowd. Many movie characters were present from films such as "Pirates Of The Carribean," "Star Wars," "Harry Potter," "Batman," "Night At The Museum," "Ella Enchanted," and many more! This march was also held in Singapore's Movie Fiesta 2008, but was named as Superhero March.

The march not only acts as a fun activity for cosplayers to take part and be in character, but also a competition that is open to the public of all ages to experience this one of a kind event. Three winners will be chosen according to the following categories: best lookalike masked character, best lookalike non-masked character and best overall marcher. The march kicked off at the Blue Atrium and the movie characters paraded outside Pyramid heading towards the old wing entrance, then to the Orange Atrium, and ended back at the Blue Atrium, all the while being in character to be in the running for the grand prize of a Samsung LCD TV!

Soon after, nine finalists were called up on stage and were given 30 seconds to perform their best character impersonation where the winners will be determined by the loudest cheer from the crowd. Shio Yee who dressed up as Hermione Granger from "Harry Potter" won best lookalike non-masked character, while Zhiang Yang as The Joker from "The Dark Knight" won best lookalike masked character. Both won a Samsung handphone and a Baskin Robbins voucher worth RM150 each.

With good effort from the duo and many attempts from the audience to determine who has the loudest cheer, Nor Azman Bin Md. Yusof won the title and scored himself the Samsung LCD TV and Baskins Robbins voucher worth 150. He commented, "This is my first time taking part in an event such as this and it has been a truly good experience. I'm speechless! I can't believe I won for being a Jack Sparrow! He's a really great character to play."
