21 May – GSC Tropicana City in Tropicana City Mall, Damansara will open in time for the anticipated blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" on 24 June 2009, according to Golden Screen Cinemas CEO Koh Mei Lee. Speaking at the launch of GSC-EON Bank credit card yesterday at GSC Signature, The Gardens in Kuala Lumpur, she said: "With this card, we are reinforcing our strong commitment to continuously introduce more benefits and value adds to our loyal customers. These are to ensure that movie fans will not be deprived of great entertainment either during the good times as we celebrate with friends and family, or during tougher times, when we can retreat into the world of fantasy, action or comedy for a short respite." She added that the 9-screen GSC East Coast Mall in Kuantan is also to open by Raya season and that GSC was planning to expand its current facilities with some 24 multiplex screens at four locations, involving up to RM30 million.
The credit card being revealed is understood to include benefits such as discounted price for adult tickets, special invitations to previews and celebrity meet-up sessions. Approved cardholders are also to enjoy a perennial offer of 5% discount on popcorn, hotdogs and soft drinks, not to mention a permanent 15% discount on GSC F&B outlets, namely Glitters Cafe, Paradiso, Cafe Facro and GSC Dessert Bar located Pavilion KL, One Utama KL, Signature Gardens KL and Gurney Plaza Penang.
