20 Sept – Fresh from his portrayal of Grandmaster Ip Man in "Ip Man 2", Donnie Yen returns again, this time playing another famous fictional martial artist Chen Zhen in "Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen"! According to previous reports, Donnie Yen was supposed to have filmed one of the torture scenes naked. Director Andrew Lau had initially provided pants which resembled what sumo wrestlers wear. Donnie thought about the idea, and realized how impractical it really was. "Why would the Japanese treat their prisoner so well and give him pants to wear? When I saw the director hired double, I thought 'his figure isn't half as good as mine'; so he suggested for him to perform in the buff. As long as it was not a frontal shot I was fine." After Donnie volunteered to do the scene himself, he expected the set to be cleared. What happened instead was that everyone started volunteering to help, especially women. Even Shu Qi, who did not have any scene that day asked, "Do you need me to help with anything?"
The Malaysian press, who previewed the movie last week, can confirm that the movie features the naked torture scene where he was also electrocuted, stabbed and whipped. Apart from that, most of the gory killing scenes were intact; derogatory remarks were also heard in the movie, uncensored. The movie has the classification of '18' in Malaysia and 'NC 16' in Singapore. On another note, over 500 Kungfu movie fans gathered at the entrance of Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur and 'froze' themselves in various Kungfu positions for approximately four minutes as a tribute to Donnie Yen and all past and present Kungfu masters around the world. The gathering was held in conjunction with the movie release of "Legend of The Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen". "Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen" opens in Singapore and Malaysia on 23 September 2010.
