2 Jul – Local prominent director U-Wei Haji Shaari has always been churning out critically acclaimed films such as "Perempuan, Isteri dan ..." This time, U-Wei returns with an adaptation from Joseph Conrad's classic 1897 novel "Almayer's Folly", bearing the title of "Hanyut The Movie".
Recently, Cinema Online was granted access to the set of "Hanyut The Movie" where an exclusive interview with veteran actress Sofea Jane was conducted. Having worked with director U-Wei in "Perempuan, Isteri dan ...", Sofea was ecstatic when U-Wei approached her to be casted as Mem, one of the lead roles in "Hanyut The Movie". Sofea revealed: "It's been 17 years since we've worked together, so when I heard about this movie, I didn't know I would be casted for it. Since U-Wei personally offered me the role of Mem, I agreed on the spot!" Read the full interview with Sofea Jane HERE.
