5 Apr – In the latest development to the evolving state of film censorship and ratings system in Malaysia, the LPF (Lembaga Penapisan Filem or National Censorship Board) has issued a new directive to all film distributors, abolishing the classifications previously known as 18SX, 18SG, 18PL and 18PA.
The new ratings system will feature only three categories: U for General Viewing, PG13 for Parental Guidance for those under 13 years of age, and 18 for audiences above the age of 18 only. This move follows the introduction of the PG13 rating which accompanied the release of "Quantum Solace" back in 2008.
The Board could not be reached for comments.
