16 Dec –Another Hollywood power couple walked down the break-up path as "Wolverine: Origins" star Ryan Reynolds and wife Scarlett Johansson ("Iron Man 2") decided to end their union of two years due to distance issues, a source close to the couple tells UsMagazine.com. News of the split has also been reported by TMZ and People magazine. The couple later jointly released a public statement saying, "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated." The source also explains that "Iron Man 2" star Johansson initiated the split. "The big problem with their relationship is the distance," says the source which noted that the couple separated about two weeks ago. "They spent a lot of time apart when they are working. She's been unhappy for a while." Johansson, 26, began dating Reynolds, 34, in April 2007. The stars announced their engagement in May 2008 and tied the knot that September in a remote wilderness retreat in Vancouver, B.C. The ceremony was attended only by a handful of close family and friends - and no photos were released.
Both stars have become synonymous with comic adapted movies over the past two years and are scheduled to appear in various Marvel and DC comic adapted movies in 2011 and 2012. Johansson will be reprising her "Iron Man 2" role as Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) in 2012's "The Avengers", while Reynolds will be moving between the DC Universe's "Green Lantern" in 2011 to Marvel Comics' "Deadpool" in 2012. Reynolds, dubbed as 2010's Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine, might have joined the ranks of Scarlett's former flames such as Josh Hartnett, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake but the heartthrob gushed that his marriage to Johansson was the "best part" of his life in the October 2010 issue of GQ.
