29 Apr – Sabahan actress Daphne Iking takes on her first lead role in Jason Chong's directorial debut "Belukar", after having made her acting debut last year as a secret agent in Afdlin Shauki's "My Spy".
Within the past two years, many controversies have bestowed on her from the divorce case with her husband, to being forecasted as the third party between the marriage of model/actress Natasha Hudson and her ex-husband Sharin Zahari.
Daphne, who raises her daughter alone, is often rumoured as a seducer due to her sexy appearance. Moreover she plays a temptress in "Belukar", slated to screen on 6 May 2010. "Although I was given the chance to play a temptress and wear clothes that are sexy and revealing, it doesn't mean I am like that. Those who watch "Belukar" will definitely be shocked when they know my true personality," said Daphne during a press conference held at GSC 1 Utama recently.
Starring alongside Bront Palarae, Daphne admits that she was embarrassed during a bathroom scene with the tall actor. "Imagine that time, I was in a process of getting a divorce and I didn't want to be seen with any men at all. But in that scene, I was required to touch Bront's body as if I wanted to seduce him. That moment was very embarrassing for me!"
The film revolves around Eva (Daphne Iking), a professional insurance swindler who manages to claim over RM100 million. Insurance company investigator, Nik (Bront Palarae) then takes on the responsibility to investigate the matter and unexpectedly falls in love with Eva without her knowing his true identity.
"Belukar" opens in cinemas 6 May 2010!
