3 Mar – The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood came alive at GV Grand, Great World City, as Golden Village Movie Club members and movie industry partners attended a red carpet live screening of the 83rd Academy Awards held jointly by Golden Village and STAR Movies.
The party began bright and early at 8.30am where guests, decked in their Hollywood best, arrived at GV Grand's box office space which was transformed to mirror the fanfare of the awards show, complete with the traditional red carpet treatment. Notable guests who graced the event included actors Pamelyn Chee, Cynthia Lee MacQuarie, Alaric Tay and TV host Linda Black. "Though I'm not physically at the Oscars, watching it in real time is like watching film history being made and written. It's amazing!" actress Silver Ang was quoted as saying. Golden Village MD David Glass said: "The Academy Awards is all about recognising professional excellence of the film industry. It only makes sense that the Awards itself gets the silver screen treatment. We're very happy to have partnered with STAR Movies for this special day, allowing us to celebrate it with our movie club members and trade partners." Glass was present to hand out prizes to several Golden Village Movie Club winners in the run-up to the Awards.
