Marvel superheroes sequels confirmed

Marvel has confirmed the sequel lineups of the upcoming superhero flicks "Thor" and "Captain America".

22 April - The president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has revealed the future of the studio on the big screen by dropping hints of the potential sequels to their upcoming superheroes films, "Thor" and "Captain America" in an upcoming interview with Disney's D23 magazine, Comingsoon.net website reports.

According to Feige in the interview, "Thor will go off into a new adventure and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own."

"We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film - Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. - all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we've got a lot of other characters we're prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined," added Feige, further confirming that the studio is all geared up to a slew of superhero flicks on the planning board.

Although other interesting Marvel characters with the likes of Doctor Strange, Black Widow and S.H.I.E.L.D. films have been previously brought up as potential projects, a Hawkeye feature is new to the discussion as is confirmation that "Captain America 2" will be set in the present.

On an interesting note, Hawkeye is another member of The Avengers who is rumoured to be making an appearance in the upcoming "Thor" film as it can be seen in the recent movie trailers.

"Thor" will be opening at cinemas in Malaysia and Singapore on 28 April 2011 while "Captain America: The First Avenger" is slated for 4 August 2011 release in both territories.
