2 Aug – It's a tie between John Favreau's "Cowboys And Aliens" and "The Smurfs" which both tied in at first place raking in US $36.2 million each in North America, while "Captain America: The First Avenger" loses its lead with second place leaving "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" in third place for the weekend just gone (28-31 July), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo. In Malaysia however, "Captain America: The First Avenger" made its debut at first place, proving that the magic of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" that dropped to second place this week, wasn't enough to keep audiences glued. Rom-com "I Love Wing Chun" opened up at third place, proving that there's still a place for Asian films amongst Hollywood blockbusters at the local box office. For Singapore, "Captain America: The First Avenger" also makes it appearance at the top spot while beating down "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" to second place. "Wu Xia" which helmed second last week has now dropped to third place at the local box office for the weekend just gone. Other new releases and sneak shows last week in Malaysia include "Veppam", "Markandeyan", "The Hangover 2" and "Perfect Rivals". In Singapore, other new releases and sneak shows last week include "West Is West", "Tell Tale", "Twisted" and "Brighton Rock".
