Depp apologises for 'rape' comment

9 Oct – Hollywood actor Johnny Depp's recent comment where he compares photo shoots to being raped has angered an anti-sexual violence organization where the actor quickly took to apologizing for the matter, according to a report by CBS News' website.

Johnny Depp apologises for 'rape' comments.

The 48-year-old in the November issue of Vanity Fair magazine compared being photographed to being raped to illustrate how much he despises photo shoots.

"You just feel like you're being raped somehow. The whole thing. It feels like a kind of weird - just weird, man. Whenever you have a photo shoot or something like that, it's like you just feel dumb. It's just so stupid," Depp had said.

Depp, then issued a statement apologizing for his poor choice of words, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling," he said in the statement. "I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful."

"While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape - a violent crime which affects another American every 2 minutes. RAINN welcomes the opportunity to speak with Mr Depp and educate him about the real life experiences faced by survivors every day," said Katherine Hull a RAINN spokesperson.
