14 May - Johnny Depp and director Rob Marshall from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", will re-team for Warner Bros. remake of the 1934 classic thriller "The Thin Man" according to an official press statement released by the studio as reported The Hollywood Reporter. Depp will take on the lead character as Nick Charles, a private detective drawn into a murder investigation along with his wealthy wife Nora Charles as they solve a twisted murder mystery at a dinner party. The original 1934 movie was based on Dashiell Hammett's novel, which centered on a former private detective-turned-professional drunkard Nick Charles, his lovely socialite wife Nora and their schnauzer Asta. Rob Marshall who stated in the press statement that he's thrilled with the idea of working again with Depp in "The Thin Man", last directed the actor in the recent 2011 adventure film "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". Apart from directing "The Thin Man", Marshall will also produce the film along with John DeLuca of Lucamar Productions. Jerry Stahl ("Twin Peaks") is writing the script for the new "Thin Man" which is based closely on the original Dashiell Hammett novel. Warner Bros' "The Thin Man" will come to screens in the year 2013, the same year Depp's "Pirates of the Caribbean 5″ is also set for release. A Malaysian and Singaporean date of release is not known at the time of publication.
