9 Aug – "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" swings up to first place as it rakes up US $54.8 million in North America, while "The Smurfs" managed to topple "Cowboys And Aliens" for the second spot, leaving the Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford starring alien invasion movie at third place for the weekend just gone (4 - 7 August), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo. Malaysia also saw the primates in "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" conquer, as "Captain America: The First Avenger" loses its threshold at the top spot and tumbles down to second, weakening the magic of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" which now rests in third place at the local box office. No surprises in Singapore as well with "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" which debuts at the top spot, nudging "Captain America: The First Avenger" from its short-lived glory down to second, as the Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey film; "Horrible Bosses" opens up to quite a horribly disappointing third place at the local box office for the weekend just gone. Other new releases and sneak shows last week in Malaysia include "Singakottai", "The Loan Shark", "Winter's Bone", "Love Is The Only Answer", "Garuda" and "Lulla Man".
