17 Dec –Local actor Jack Lim would be portraying his famous character, Ah Beng, in the upcoming Chinese New Year movie, "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes" come this 19 January 2012, and in real life, he too reveals his own three wishes for the looming year of the Dragon.
While speaking with Cinema Online, Lim revealed that he has high hopes for the movie's box office result, wishing that it can break the records set by his previous two films, "Tiger Woohoo" (RM 4 Million) and "Great Day" (RM 6 Million) as well as Namewee's directorial debut, "Nasi Lemak 2.0", which recently managed to exceed RM 7 million at the local box office. Lim also expressed that as many are preparing to receive auspicious luck from the God of Fortune during the Chinese New Year's eve, it's no exception for him as well as he wishes to be richer in the upcoming year. "I lived in a poor family when I was young back in Ipoh. My brothers and I had not enough food to eat. I stopped going to school after Form 3. Lacking of education, I work extremely hard as a DJ, event host and movie actor in the entertainment industry, and I invested for businesses including the newly launched steamboat restaurant, Yat Beng Wor at The Scott Garden, Old Klang Road. I knew the taste of being poor, therefore I want to make as much money as I can to live a better life," said Lim. Being a husband and father is never easy for Lim. His work schedule is always full and he says it is difficult for him to balance the time between his job and family. "Work comes to me one after the other. One day, I only have three hours to rest before I continue my tasks. But I sometimes don't sleep within those hours as I chose to accompany my young son to the cinema for a blockbuster movie. I really wish I could spend more time with my wife and son in the New Year," Lim added. Spending less than a month to complete the whole shooting process of "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes", the story is an action-comedy feature which tells the story of Ah Beng's poor father who meets the God of Fortune, and how the deity fulfils his three wishes. "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes" will be released in Malaysia on 19 January 2012.
