19 Jul – In North America, the boy wizard's final saga, "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" soared into records as the highest grossing opening weekend of all time with US $169.2 million, leaving the much touted movie of the year "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" losing steam at second place, while Kevin Spacey's "Horrible Bosses" drops to the third spot for the weekend just gone (14-17 July), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo.
Malaysia held a local premiere to bid the magical franchise goodbye as "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" helms the top spot. The movie managed to beat the "Transformers" streak leaving the alien robot franchise at second place, while Metrowealth's latest local horror film "Flat 3A" opened up to third place among blockbuster films at the local box office. For Singapore, "Harry Potter" too takes the top spot as they also had a local premiere that saw attendance by fans whom dressed up as characters from the movie. With no surprises, "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" also dropped to second place in Singapore pushing Tom Hanks' "Larry Crowne" to third place for the weekend just gone. Other new releases and sneak shows last week in Malaysia include "Larry Crowne", "Deiva Thirumagal", "Forever", "Mysterious Island" and "A Beautiful Life".
