22 Dec – In conjunction with the upcoming theatrical release of his highly-anticipated adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel of the same name, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", director David Fincher was seen in various promotional activities, although in his latest, he reveals his potential involvement with the sequels, according to Total Film.

Should the sequels follow in the vein of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", they will be similarly titled "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest".

While "The Social Network" Fincher remains noncommittal, he eventually revealed that he had read Steve Zaillian's script and found it to be "really good", so if he was involved he would shoot the sequels back-to-back.

"I haven't given the second and third books near enough scrutiny to be able to comment on them. I've seen Steven's script for the second one and it's really good."

49-year-old Fincher also explained in the recent interview, "Classically, movie studios don't make deals with directors, even if there's a hope that there's going to be three [films], because they want to make sure you behave."

"But yes, the second and third books are very much one story and it doesn't seem prudent to me to go to Sweden for a year and then come back for a year, put out the second [film], go back to Sweden for a year, come back for a year," he added.

However, the Golden Globe and BAFTA winner felt that the ending for the film is enough for the movie to stand alone, so he is not worried if no adaptations of the sequels will be made.

"The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" will open in Singapore on 5 January.
