"The Help's" third streak

"Hantu Bonceng" tops in Malaysia with RM 5 million in 5 days, while Singapore saw its release last 31 August.

6 Sep – "The Help" is first for the third time in a row breaking the streak record previously held by "Inception" as it raked in US $19 million this week, while "The Debt" debut at second place, leaving the pseudo-documentary "Apollo 18" debuting in a decent third place at the box office for the weekend just gone (1 - 4 September), according to online tracker Box Office Mojo.

In Malaysia, despite not being able to enjoy "The Help" which found no release in the nation, moviegoers found solace in Ahmad Idham's "Hantu Bonceng" over the Raya-Merdeka weekend that managed to gross RM 5 million in just 5 days of its release. "The Smurfs" held second place, while the Tamil film "Mankatha" saw third place as "Final Destination 5" which held the first place last week, proved that its time was up making a staggering drop to fourth place at the local box office.

Singaporeans enjoyed "The Smurfs" as it helmed the charts, while the Steve Carell starring comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" opened up at second place, leaving "Cars 2" to loose momentum as it slows down to third place at the local box office for the weekend just gone.

Other new releases and sneak shows last week in Malaysia include "Sacrifice", while "Bridesmaids", "Apollo 18" and "Nasi Lemak 2.0" opens this week.

In Singapore, other new releases and sneak shows last week include "Four Lions" with "Spy Kids: All The Time In The World", "The First Grader", "Glee The 3D Concert Movie", "The Cat" and "Super Junior Super Show 3 3D".
