Train ride for Potter fans!

21 Dec – Recently, Malaysia's public transport company, KTM Bhd, launched a 'Ride, Watch and Win Contest' campaign, where die-hard fans of the "Harry Potter" franchise will be able to take a ride on the Electric Train Service's (ETS) Harry Potter wrap-around train, according to News Strait Times.

The "Harry Potter" wrap-around ETS is part of a promotional campaign for the final instalment, "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2", with limited edition DVDs to go on sale as well.

The contest will provide fans with the chance to win a tour trip to Warner Bros. Studio in London, inclusive of flight tickets, accommodation and ground transport.

Participants are required to watch a never-before-seen Hogwarts' last stand promo piece, and answer a question and slogan in order to win.

As it is, during the journey, fans will also get to watch all eight Harry Potter movies onboard.

KTM Bhd president, Dr Aminuddin Adnan, said the exclusive campaign will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the passengers.

"Our valued passengers, especially Harry Potter fans who purchased tickets regardless of any ETS service, will be entertained on board with the screening of all eight Harry Potter movies," he said.

He added, "Besides the screening, be prepared to take the challenge of the Ride, Watch and Win Contest to receive exclusive Harry Potter premiums and a three-day, two-night trip to tour the Warner Bros Studio in London."

The three-month campaign is in collaboration with Aisantra Media Sdn Bhd and Alliance Entertainment (M) Sdn Bhd to promote "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2", the final instalment of the movie series.

At the launch ceremony, Alliance Entertainment (M) Sdn Bhd general manager, Raymond Chin, said the Hogwarts Express train in the movie inspired Alliance Entertainment to collaborate with the ETS.

"In the movie, Hogwarts Express is a magical train which transports wizards to school, and this is one the most remarkable signatures for Harry Potter fans," said Chin.

"As the Harry Potter films come to a close, this collaboration with ETS is a perfect time to give fans an opportunity to embrace their imagination by taking the ride on Hogwarts Express."

Also present was Aisantra Media Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer Por Yew Guan and ETS chief operating officer, Azizullah Kinayatullah, as well as special appearances by the movie's characters, including Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Neville Longbottom, to name a few.

To first join the contest, participants have to purchase ETS train tickets and any original Harry Potter VCD, DVD or Blu-Ray disc as proof of purchase with the original receipt and submit them along with the contest form with their answers to selected ETS counters.

200 units of a limited-edition of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2" DVD box set, which includes an exclusive colour photo book, will also be available at ETS head office for RM399.90.

The campaign will run until 18 February 2012.
