22 Nov – Despite everything, love proves to be the greatest conqueror, with scores of audiences flocking to the theatres to watch the beginning of the ending for Bella and Edward's romance, leading "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" to a total gross of US $138 million for the past weekend. However, "Breaking Dawn's" US $138.1 million opening is second-best among "Twilight" movies as it sits behind 2009's "New Moon" (US $142.7 million). Dancing along is the hugely adorable "Happy Feet 2" animation, which took a second place opening. Tarsem Singh's epic, "Immortals", follows in the footsteps of "300" as they try to compete against the numbers, but falls to third place instead in North America for the past weekend of 17 to 20 November, according to online tracker, Box Office Mojo. However, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" has yet to shine its light on Malaysia, leaving "Happy Feet 2" to grab the first spot. The movie's PG13 rating made for higher numbers of audiences as opposed to the 18 rating for "Immortals", which also prompted "Aku Bukan Tomboy", a local movie's takeover as it made its debut at second place. "Immortals", then, sat at third place in Malaysia's box office for the past weekend. All is not lost for the Olympians, for "Immortals" sat at first place in Singapore. Second on the list is "Happy Feet 2", followed by Steven Spielberg's performance-capture 3D, "The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn" for the weekend just gone. Other new releases and sneak peeks last week in Malaysia include, "Puss In Boots", "Thambi Vettothi Sundaram ", "Konjam Sirippu Konjam Kobam", "Seeking Justice", and "Howling Reborn", as well as Film Festival Malaysia's movies "Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah", "Cun", "Karak", and "Hantu Bonceng". In Singapore, new releases and sneak peeks last week were, "Legendary Amazons" and "Kaiji 2".
