1 Apr – Although "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is yet to begin its voyage at the cinemas, Walt Disney Pictures has apparently had the franchise's next journey all mapped out already, AceShowbiz reports and this is further confirmed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who revealed to USA Today recently that a script for the fifth movie is in the works.
The upcoming fifth film, just like "On Stranger Tides", will be a standalone story that is not related to its predecessor and the test screenings of the fourth movie inspires Bruckheimer when audience told the production that they adore the fresh, new storyline which they will carry over into the next movie to give the franchise something different.
The filmmaker also emphasise the importance of lead actor Johnny Depp's character in the future of the film series by saying, ""As long as the audience embraces this one, we'll certainly try to make another one. It's really up to Johnny." He adds, "He loves the character."
However, no tentative release date is yet confirmed for the fifth instalment.
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" will follow Captain Jack Sparrow's adventures in searching for the mythical Fountain Of Youth and along his journey, he comes across an old flame named Angelica (played by Penelope Cruz), her father, the infamous Captain Blackbeard who is played by Ian McShane as well as few pirates legends that has never been explored by the films before this which include undead pirates and mermaids.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and helmed by "Nine" director Rob Marshall, "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" will be released at the cinemas in Malaysia and Singapore on 19 May 2011.
