10 Jan – TGV finally unveiled its curtains to present the latest addition of its multiplex line-up at 1st Avenue Mall in Georgetown, Penang on last 8 January 2011, which houses 8 halls with one hall dedicated to 3D movie screening. According to TGV's official Facebook page, one of the featured halls also offers special seating. Dubbed as 'the bean bag hall', moviegoers will be able to experience movie screenings on the comforts of bean bag cushion seats. Moviegoers will be able to enjoy another in-house feature of the cinema as well which is 'Cantina', a spacious waiting area that is named after the iconic pub in "Star Wars" where patrons can lounge at while waiting for their movies. 1st Avenue Mall, which opened last November is situated in the heart of Georgetown, having neighbouring tourist shopping spots such as Menara Komtar and Prangin Mall.
The opening of TGV 1st Avenue Mall marks the 16th multiplex under TGV Cinemas' management, with two more upcoming outlets at SetiaWalk, Puching and 1Shamelin, Cheras in 2011. To date, TGV has 16 multiplexes with 122 screens and some 23,000 seats in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Penang and Johor.
